Black History Month: Great Black Speeches

February 3, 2007

For as long as I can remember, I have been intrigued by great speeches, especially great black speeches. A well written, well delivered speech can inspire, intimidate, excite, and enlighten. Whether it was in the locker room during halftime, the pues on sunday morning, or at bedside before your grandmother tucked you in, everyone has been touched by a speech. So I figured this black history month I will share some of my favorite speeches written and performed by some of the greatest black orators.

I guess I will start with one of my recent favorties. This speech is not yet black history, but it could very well be in 2008. Barack Obama took the nation by storm after delivering the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.
Enjoy!
