Comments (0)Racial Double Standard?
November 21, 2006
Right when you think the closed minded ignorant racist is becoming a thing of the past, he somehow finds a way to rear his ugly head, slapping you right back into reality. If you have not heard about the Michael Richards tirade, search YouTube (I refuse to link to it). Though it disturbs me that one of my favorite Seinfeld characters would do something so despicable, what intrigues me the most are the people arguing a “double standard”. Check out the Digg post, the most dugg comments are the ones talking about a double standard, so I assume a lot of people agree.
For example:

Funny how rap albums calling African Americans exactly the same thing are on the top of the best selling albums lists. Double-standards?

While it’s clear he’s got some issues.. I find it quite a double standard that it’s ok for blacks to be racist with comedy, but if a white person says something racist, it’s not ok and he should apologize..
Now to be completely fair a lot factors play into the promotion of Digg comments, timing is a big one, but this is something still worth discussing.

Comments (0)To Ad or Not to Ad!
November 18, 2006
Now I am no ad hater. In fact I am an ad appreciator. I don’t mind ad subsidized weblogs like Tech Crunch, the information produced by these sites take hundreds of thousands of hours of research, travel fees etc.. In fact most of my favorite companies are dependent on ad revenue. But can someone please tell me why people think it’s ok to post ads on personal blogs? That’s like advertising on business cards or resumes. Or worst yet tattooing goldenpalace.com on your forehead.

The Excuse:
I have to recoup my web hosting fees.
The Solution:
Get a free one. There are tons of free web loggers use one. I know I know you’re saying…
Well they have ads well they’re providing a service that they should be compensated for.
The Excuse:
Time is money and I need to be compensated for my time.
The Response:
If you want to make money blogging, create a business. Blog about something beneficial, but keep your personal blog separate.
